The Dermacare salon at Stoughton Grange in Oadby is ideally located for anyone looking for a truly enjoyable beauty experience combined with expert advice and excellent service.

Yesterday afternoon we were invited to meet with the team at Dermacare Salon in Oadby to find out a little more about the range of cosmeceutical products they use in all their treatments and why.

Cosmeceutical products are, as the name suggests, a mid-point product between cosmetics and pharmaceuticals; providing you all the benefits of clinically proven technology for your skin in a bottle!

Launched by Andrea, a trained nurse, and her brother in law online, Dermacare products provide the latest non-invasive skincare treatments to target specific skin concerns such as pigmentation, premature ageing, acne and oily skin, sensitivity and redness, scarring, skin tone and texture.  The salon itself provides clients with the opportunity to see the products in action through the skilled hands of Kate, their resident therapist, and take advantage of Angela’s expertise face to face.

Based in a lovely spot on the outskirts of Oadby the salon is very discreet and extremely peaceful.  I arrived to be greeted by an impressive display of homemade cupcakes and the offer of Bucks Fizz and from then I knew I was going to enjoy every moment!

Using a woods lamp Kate snapped me in daylight and under UV light so we could see any underlying damage and from there the next 2 hours passed in a lovely mixture of facials, massages and divine smells, followed by an expert make-up tutorial using only the best Mineralogie® mineral make up…it was tough, but someone had to do it!

Kate explained to me the results of my facial analysis and what the various different tones meant, I definitely need to drink more (and not the Bucks Fizz variety!).  She was a font of knowledge regarding skin care and the products and offered me some really useful advice regarding the type of ingredients that would help to renew and rejuvenate my skin, whilst protecting it from further damage.

DID YOU KNOW:  In order for your SPF protection to work efficiently you need to use it in conjunction with an anti oxidant?  By doing this you increase your skins protection from skin damage, free radicals and the dreaded ageing to 96%.

DID YOU KNOW:  Vitamin C & E are amazing for your skin as many will be aware, but in order for it to actually work you need to apply it directly (transdermally if we’re being technical).  Using a good quality product such as those provided by Dermacare in the Jan Marini range, you can apply Vitamin C every day.   And, the great thing is it won’t come off so you are building your reserves every time you apply.

DID YOU KNOW:  To keep your skin fully hydrated by drinking alone is extremely difficult?  Your body will naturally divert liquids to your vital organs first and your skin often misses out, that’s why hydrating products for your face and body are so useful.

This was all proffered whilst she expertly manipulated my skin giving me a heavenly facial and shoulder massage, multi-tasking as its very best.

After the facial I not only smelt delicious but could immediately feel the effects of using the right skincare products, my skin felt instantly softer and looked brighter.

Whilst talking with Andrea about how the business began and her background we began to discuss the latest product which Andrea herself has developed from scratch and has literally just finished.

DermaTx has been developed to give the benefits of microdermabrasion from the comfort of your home, meaning you can use this as part of a regular routine and it’s so simple.  DermaTx uses the same microdermabrasion crystals (corundum crystals) as in salon treatments but is combined with radiance enhancing technology and the all important hydrating ingredients; it provides all the benefits in one bottle.

Using a handy little exfoliating tool, which comes with the cream, you use it 1-2 times a week; it gently resurfaces the skin, and encourages the production of new skin cells which ultimately make your skin look more radiant and give you a smoother tone, and you can see the effects from just one application.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not as fastidious about my skincare as I should be, but these products are so simple to use and so effective that anyone can fit them in to their skincare routine, whether you use them all or select your favourites.

At the moment Jan Marini and the new DermaTx product aren’t available in high street stores or salons but I’d highly recommend you have a look online at www.dermacaredirect.co.uk or arrange to have a chat with Andrea for some expert advice at www.dermacaresalon.co.uk .  The team are very welcoming and all experts at what they do so I guarantee you’re in the safest of hands and one step closer to loving the skin you’re in!

A Clarifying Consultation

Kerry From NicheMagazine

In a quaint corner of the Stoughton Grange Farm complex, I discovered the Dermacare salon; a sanctuary for every skin concern.
Inside, Kate, their Aesthetic Therapist and Andrea, a qualified nurse who founded the salon, were happy to show me their brand new range developed by Andrea herself. For the last two years the skincare expert has been developing DermaTx Advanced Skincare.
All skin types can benefit from Andrea’s innovative microdermabrasion treatments that are uniquely formulated to suit men and women. The creams contain micro-crystals and active ingredients, and can be massaged in with just the tips of your fingers or preferably the recommended hand-held massaging device, but after experiencing the microdermabrasion device myself, I can tell you that you’ll be feeling fresh and fancy long afterwards.
The device has two attachments: one gives you a deeper cleanse right into the pores and the other gently exfoliates giving you smoother, younger looking skin. And the best part is it’s designed for you to use at your leisure in the comfort of your own home!
Andrea’s creams are cosmeceutical – mixing the results that pharmaceutical brands offer with a luxury experience to solve all your skincare concerns. All the creams in the DermaTx range contain active ingredients that are scientifically proven to target specific skin types.
Anyone worried about wrinkles, sun-damage and uneven skin tone can age gracefully with the ‘Brighten’ kit. ‘Clarify’ will work best for people suffering from acne, enlarged pores and oily skin, while ‘Rejuvenate’ is designed for the lucky ones who have a normal skin type but can also be used on sensitive skins.
After my free consultation and Skin Analysis, Kate treated me with the Clarify range. She took her time to explain to me each step in the cleansing process and the benefits of the creams. With her knowledgeable guidance I feel as though my skin will get to a happy balance and feel as fabulous outside of the salon as it did inside!

Is your skincare regime in need of a makeover? We try out a new ‘cosmeceutical’ facial

Isobel Frodsham visits a salon specialising in solutions to adult skincare problems

We’ll be honest with you readers, we try to maintain a good skincare routine, eat well, exercise and shield ourselves from the sun. But sometimes, it’s just easier to use the baby wipes than wash our faces, or grab a breakfast cob instead of a juice.

So when we were invited down to the Dermacare salon, in Stoughton Grange, near Leicester, to try out their new skin-scanning machine, facials and makeovers to help our skin, we said yes. Rather quickly.

Which is how we found ourselves in a salon, at 4.30pm on a Thursday, being thoroughly interrogated about our skin-care habits by a questionnaire.

The Dermacare salon aims to bridge the gap between a cosmetic clinic and a beauty salon. Opened in November last year by Leicester-born skincare practitioner Andrea Patel and her brother-in-law, Bhavin, it offers tailor-made “cosmeceuticals” (cosmetic and pharmaceutical) treatments to its customers, including chemical peels, facials and skin analysis.

The salon also offers electrolysis treatments to remove skin conditions such as skin tags, Milia white spots and thread veins. Andrea runs the online retailer for skincare products, Dermacare Direct, while aesthetic therapist Kate Farrier runs the salon. In addition to Dermacare Direct, Andrea has recently launched her own brand of cosmeceutical products, DermaTX, to help clarify, brighten and rejuvenate skin.

After we finish our questionnaire, we’re invited into a treatment room where Kate runs us through theprocess of the facial. It involves putting your face into a machine where you’re greeted by a mirror and blue lights, while ultraviolet light shines on your face. It shows you how oily, sun-damaged, dehydrated or dry your skin is. Kate talked us through the process, helpfully pointing out which areas of our skin need the most attention. And then the fun begins. We got comfortable on the treatment couch and the cleansing, toning, treating, moisturising and massaging portion of the treatment gets underway. Bliss. For our skin, Kate used the Jan Marini range of products, which have been formulated by skincare specialists and scientists to help with skin problems such as pigmentation, rosacea, acne and sun- damaged skin.

After some light conversation and a quick shoulder massage, Kate recommended some products for us to try to help our skin to recover from its sun-damage.

Following this, we had a makeover using Mineralogie cosmetics. The American brand, which consist of lipsticks, mascaras, foundations and eye shadows, has been created using minerals, and are all free from talc, dye and perfume. The make-up also protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays.

Overall, the experience is definitely something we would like to try again. The skin-scanning is a good wake-up call, and made us realise that laziness is never the answer when it comes to looking after our skin. So, lovely More readers, if you want to shake up your skincare routine, get some advice, or sort out a skin problem, we can certainly recommend the Dermacare salon.

They really know their stuff.

We all try to do our best when looking after our skin, especially as we get older. Diet, living and working in the city, sun worship and pollution all take their toll so when Dermacare invited me to their clinic to assess the damage I’d done to my skin with a full face scan I was not really looking forward to the results. There’s always good news after the bad news though as I discovered they have the perfect range of products designed to repair damaged skin writes Lilith Hunt Sheppard as she puts her face into the hands of the professionals.

The Dermacare Salon, at Stoughton Grange, bridges the gap between a beauty salon and a treatment clinic offering a range of services and products that are classified as ‘cosmeceutical’. They basically act as a centre for problem skin; from helping acne-prone or oily skin to non-invasive treatments like facial peels and Dermaroller treatments, the salon uses a range of cosmeceutical products that have been scientifically proven to work. It’s not just in salon treatments they focus on though, the team are also on hand to create a bespoke at home care skincare regime specifically designed to meet your needs and complement your treatments.

Upon arrival at the clinic I was welcomed by therapist Kate Farrier, who immediately sat me down and explained the process to me along with its benefits. Firstly I was put in the ‘skin scanner’ – a UV illuminated dish that magnifies and highlights your skins imperfections and general condition. It was with some trepidation that I surveyed the results but Kate was positive, pointing out the good bits as well as the bad and suggesting solutions for those problem parts!

The analysis of my skin enabled Kate to create a completely tailored skin care regime for me to follow at home treatments and products that would be best for me. We started with a daily skincare regime, which would then be complemented by salon-based treatments to resolve any issues or improve general skin condition. The whole process has been a real eye-opener – you rarely consider the damage to your skin however. A visit to Dermacare salon is the first step on the road to healthier skin and a better skincare routine, as I really do know exactly what I need to do both at home and in the salon. The results? Great skin takes time, so watch this space and see!

Andrea, director of Dermacare Direct, (an ecommerce company selling cosmeceutical skincare products) has recently launched her own brand of cosmeceutical products DermaTx, to help Clarify, Brighten and Rejuvenate.

With over 20 years of experience in the skincare industry and with a real passion for it, Andrea has been working tirelessly to perfect and launch her new product range, DermaTx which has been developed to provide the benefits of microdermabrasion from the comfort of your own home.
The new range of DermaTx Microdermabrasion Creams offers an affordable butequally effective alternative to more expensive clinic treatments.
What makes Dermatx Microdermabrasion Creams different?

Unlike most microdermabrasion products on the market, DermaTx creams have been specially designed to target various skin types and concerns, as it is essential to be using the right products for each particular skin type.

Brighten (with SABIWHITE® and Achromaxyl) – Designed for uneven skin tone, sun-damaged and ageing skin (suitable for men and women aged 40 and above).

Clarify (with 2% Salicylic acid and Retinol) – Designed for acne, oily skin and enlarged pores (suitable for men and women of all ages).

Rejuvenate (with Antioxidants) – Designed for normal to sensitive skin (suitable for men and women aged under 40).

DermaTx Microdermabrasion Creams use professional grade corundum (aluminium oxide) crystals (the same as those used in professional machines) to slough off the layers of skin combined with optimal levels of cosmeceutical ingredients to give a real boost to the exfoliation process.
In a matter of minutes of using DermaTx treatment, your skin becomes radiant, nourished and glowing thanks to the hydrating properties contained in the product.
Andrea states that “Our customers have been amazed with the new DermaTx Microdermabrasion Creams. The balance of corundum crystals with active ingredients targeting specific skin concerns has produced exceptional results similar to expensive clinic treatments. We are really pleased and excited with this range.”

A handy exfoliating tool (DermaTx Cleanse and Exfoliate 2-in-1)can be used with the creams to provide a Complete Resurfacing System. Used 1-2 times a week, it gently resurfaces the skin and encourages the production of new skin cells, which ultimately makes your skin look more radiant.
